We are a film
production company based in New Delhi, India for the
past 30 years. Set up as a fully integrated documentary
and motion picture film production unit, Riverbank
Studios was the first of its kind in Northern India. |
|
|
Riverbank
Studios was started in 1973 by Mike H. Pandey;
internationally known filmmaker. Mike was born in Kenya
and trained in the UK and USA before he returned to
India to work in the country of his origin. Today, a
team of committed professionals is the driving force
that constitutes the Riverbank spirit. The constant
endeavor is to bring about awareness to shoulder the
responsibility that rests on the human race. |
|
|
The
creative impulse at Riverbank has always been governed
by a deep-rooted affinity to the natural order of the
living world. Our filmmaking experience has been diverse
and we have a wide spectrum of productions including
films on wildlife and the environment, corporate films
and advertisements, feature films, television
programming, nature series for national television and
socially motivated awareness campaigns. |
|
Over the
years however, our focus and commitment has been towards
films on the natural world. Shooting all over India we
have developed a tremendous bank of footage and stories
that represent various facets of the country’s
incredible natural and social heritage. |
|
Our production "The Last
Migration-wild elephant capture in Sarguja"
was the first Asian film to win the world’s most
prestigious award – The Green Oscar -
Panda Award at the
Wildscreen, 1994.
The film "Shores of
Silence-whale sharks in India" was also the
Winner of the Green Oscar - Panda Award in
the year 2000 – the second Oscar for
Riverbanks.
In
October 2004 Riverbanks won the Green Oscar –
Panda Award for the third time for the film
“Vanishing Giants”
The film "Honey Hunters of the

Riverbank Studios
has also produced several television series for
Doordarshan. Our television series "Earth Matters"
covered a wide range of issues regarding ecology and
environment. The series received an overwhelming
response from viewers both in India and abroad and had a
successful two-year run on the National Network.
This series also went on to win 4
International Awards.
These include the prestigious
Commonwealth Broadcasting Association Award in England
in 2002, Best Magazine Programme Award at 18th
International Television Science Awards at Paris in
2001, Gold panda Award at Sichuan TV Festival, China
in 2001 and a special mention at the Portugal
Film Festival in 2001. |
|
Our
current and proposed projects include a cross section of
films on India’s geographical features, wildlife and
habitat types, human-environment symbiosis, primordial
ecological traditions, adapted eco-technology in rural
areas and social awareness films. |
|
|
Films on the natural world are fast becoming an
important viewing option for television patrons
in India and worldwide. With the Indian
sub-continent as a focus of wildlife, films made
in India hold a special place. It is of prime
importance for us to realize and utilize our own
potential to project penetrating images of
India’s natural legacy and its present status. |
|
|
A handful of filmmakers in
our country transcend vacuous entertainment software to
produce thought provoking films on life and nature in
India. Flora and fauna, indigenous people, rural
literacy, children with disability, crafts, ecological
crisis, community efforts, empowerment of women, child
labour………....... |
|
The
Riverbank outlook is to present the real picture in
totality. |
